With the Digital Freedom Foundation, we have concluded our Software Freedom Day Mascot Challenge, and we're pleased to announce the winners who will receive drawing tablets from Huion.
While we had hoped for a larger pool of submissions, the entries we received demonstrated something valuable: the power of storytelling and symbolism in representing software freedom. The creative backstories and meaningful symbolism behind each mascot concept truly stood out, even as artistic approaches varied considerably and sparked divided opinions among our judges.
This was the keynote written for de Nepal Open Source Klub and the worldwide Software Freedom Community

The DFF will boost any related posts they say with those tags.
This year again, Huion is generously supporting Software Freedom Day (SFD) by donating a Kamvas Pro 16 (4K), a Kamvas Pro 12 for the runner up and two Inspiroy Frego M tablets for the next best submissions in our creative challenge. The challenge invites participants worldwide to create a mascot for Software Freedom Day using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Entries must be submitted by October 20, 2025, November 9, 2025 (midnight UTC - deadline has been extended) and adhere to specific guidelines, including using only FOSS tools and sharing the source files under Creative Commons licenses.
Huion’s participation highlights their commitment to digital freedom and creativity, encouraging artists to explore and express these values through their art.

Janka from Hungary took home the first prize, while Deffy from the USA and Yue from Malaysia were our talented runners-up. Congratulations to all three of you!
