Description
2019/UK/Manchester
About the groups involved
About ManLUG
[Linux User Group (ManLUG)] is one of the UK's oldest LUGs and have an active group of people giving support and sharing knowledge.
About Manchester Free Software
[Free Software (MFS)] aims to promote the [software philosophy], centred in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester|Manchester]. We provide a friendly and accessible community to learn about and discuss [Software]. We've been running the Free Software Festival that is Software Freedom Day from 2008.
Event
Our aim for Software Freedom Day (SFD) is to celebrate Software Freedom, and to spread Software Freedom to people and groups that would be into [Software] and the [Software] philosophy if only they knew about it.
When?
Saturday, 21st September 2019. 1:30pm (13:30) - 4:30pm (16:30).
Where?
Val Swinbourne Seminar Studio, [Central Library], St Peter's Square, City Centre, M2 5PD.
* Next to [Peter's Square tram stop]* [centred on Manchester Central Library]
As you enter the Central Library from St Peter's Square (where the tram station is) you will see the glass lifts, select the second floor and turn to your left upon existing the lift. You will see an information desk, keep going a little past this and on your left is the raised seating area of Val Swinbourne Seminar Studio. Note that the second floor in the lifts is different if you were to take the stairs, I made this mistake.
Venue includes Wi-Fi.
Parking?
If you can't decide otherwise then park in [Arndale], although it isn't cheap, see [Manchester Arndale].
There are paid parking lots around the venue, they are marked by a blueP in this [centred on Manchester Central Library]. They have varying cost and time limits so please check beforehand. Most of those parking lots are owned by [https://www.ncp.co.uk/|NCP].
Public Transport?
[Victoria (MCV) train station], [Peter's Square tram stop] and [Piccadilly Gardens bus station] are all fairly close to Manchester Central Library, see [centred on Manchester Central Library]. [Piccadilly (MAN) train station] and [Central Coach Station] are not too far either.
What?
The event will be a party celebrating [Software]. There will be talks, chat and demos. The event will be relaxed and friendly and will be inclusive of those wanting to get into [Software].
