Software Freedom Day 2025: Advancing AI, Digital Rights and Inclusion through Free and Open Source Software
This session, organized as part of Software Freedom Day (SFD) 2025, celebrates the transformative potential of free and open-source software (FOSS) , Digital rights and rights-respecting AI to empower communities in Africa, the Middle East, and Global Majority locations. By integrating SFD’s mission to promote software freedom with the development and ethical deployment of AI, this hybrid event will showcase how open-source technologies and inclusive AI governance can bridge digital divides, uphold human rights, and advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The session will feature interactive discussions, and live demonstrations, and collaborative workshops to highlight practical, community-driven solutions that prioritize accessibility, equity, and innovation.
