Established in 2005 by its founder Meric B. Mara, 8Layer Technologies started as an open source Software development and consultancy company that focuses on Autonomic Infrastruction and Telephony solutions. In its inception stage, even as a small start-up company, it has earned the trust and has partnered with the big players in the IT industry to continuously provide better solutions to the Filipinos specifically the local government units and the SMEs.

Currently, 8Layer is continuously doing research and development on projects that are focused on ensuring data privacy and authenticity through blockchain and encryption; as well as nation building projects that would provide automation and intelligence to the services of the government.
