Menoufia

Located south of the Nile Delta, Menoufia (Arabic: المنوفية) is one of the principal governorates of Egypt. Menoufia is known to be the birthplace of two Egyptian presidents: the former president Anwar El Sadaat (1918-1981, born in Meet Abul Kom) and the current president Hosny Mubarak (1928, born in Kafr El Meselha). The capital city of the governorate is Shiben El Kom (Arabic: شبين الكوم), home to the prestigious Menoufia University, where the Faculty of Computers and Information, one of the highest ranking Computer Science educational institutes in Egypt, is located.
