The larger urban area surrounding the city, known as Antananarivo-Renivohitra ('Antananarivo-Queen's Hill'), is the capital of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analamanga|Analamanga] region and of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antananarivo_Province|Antananarivo] autonomous province.
