##  [ The Open Education Handbook ](https://digitalfreedoms.org/pt/dff/blog/the-open-education-handbook)

Yet another day and another project needing some love on [Education Freedom Day](http://www.educationfreedomday.org/): the [Open Education Handbook](http://education.okfn.org/handbook/)! Started in September 2013 and initiated by the [Open Education Working Group](http://education.okfn.org/) from the [Open Knowledge Foundation](http://okfn.org/), the [Open Education Handbook](http://education.okfn.org/handbook/) initially intended to cover Open Data use in education but has quickly evolved into a document extending to the different aspects of open education, such as resources, data and culture and how those fit together. While it is currently the second version, the targeted final release is for October 2014.

So on <a target="_blank">Education Freedom Day</a>, the [people from Campinas in Brazil](http://wiki.educationfreedomday.org/2014/Brazil/Campinas/EFD), together with interested participants either locally or remotely, will work on a Portuguese translation of the [Open Education Handbook](http://education.okfn.org/handbook/). Note that the event is actually happening on **Monday 20 January** and should you not live in the area feel free to contact them through our [Portuguese mailing list](http://mail.sf-day.org/lists/listinfo/planning-pt). Of course if you are more generally interested in contributing to the [Open Education Handbook](http://education.okfn.org/handbook/) then looking at the [Open Education Working Group mailing list](http://education.okfn.org/mailing-list/) is probably a good way to start.

As previously mentioned [Education Freedom Day](http://www.educationfreedomday.org/) is happening in [many other places](http://www.educationfreedomday.org/map/) and can be a very good way to get involved in [Free Educational Resources](http://www.educationfreedomday.org/about/free-educational-resources) building or advocacy.

##  [ SFI becomes DFI! ](https://digitalfreedoms.org/pt/dff/blog/sfi-becomes-dfi)

Since October 2011 the SFI board has taken a few major decisions regarding its own future. Stability among board members should allow us to push our celebration and advocacy concepts to new heights, and in order to reach those goals we had to widen the scope of our possible actions by changing our bylaws and adding a DBA (doing-business-as) name to our official organization registration. While the bylaws'final wording is still under review SFI has decided to operate under the name of **Digital Freedom International**.
